About the Authors
KEVIN COUGHLAN: Kevin has reported on rugby on the Rec for 25 years. He was educated at Prior Park College in Bath and trained as a journalist in South Devon before moving in 1979 to the sports desk of the Bristol Evening Post; assignments there included the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and the 1991 World Cup. After a spell as Business Editor of the Evening Post, he moved into public relations and now runs his own business as a media and communications consultant. Kevin has continued his association with Bath rugby as a freelance journalist.
PETER HALL: Peter is a Past President of the Bath Football Club and a former player, having first played for the club in the 1950s. Family associations with the club extend over half a century – married to Mollie, his father-in-law was Harry Vowles, a brilliant half-back immediately after the Great War, while their son, John, was at one time Bath's most capped international. Now retired, Peter's background in banking prepared him for the many months of meticulous research which prepared the ground for this definitive record.
COLIN GALE: Colin is a former Local Director of NatWest Bank and was the club's Honorary Treasurer until the end of the amateur days. Educated at Bristol Grammar School, he has enjoyed a life-long interest in rugby and diligently researched this work together with Peter Hall over a period of more than five years.
